Gallery Art
Own a portion of MGisms healing history with one-of-a-kind gallery pieces. These original watercolors, painted by Marie Gail “MG” Stratford, measure 11”x15”. Each piece, painted on 140-pound cold-press Strathmore® watercolor paper, has been hand-selected by MG from her personal portfolio.
Original 8”x8” Watercolors
In late 2019, MG began painting smaller, square watercolors while prepping for major surgery. Realizing that the surgery would require weeks of bedrest, she selected ARTEZA® watercolor pens and purchased small-format, square watercolor blocks in order to accommodate her restricted mobility. These pieces, which she has continued to create since recovery, are the result.
Dragonflies for Em
MG’s first professional experience in recreational therapy was working with the amazing Kansas City organization Em’s Spotlight. Founded after the tragic death of Emily Silverman in an auto accident, Em’s Spotlight brings the joy of dance to kids and adults with limited opportunities. The Dragonflies for Em collection originated in 2019 when Vicki Silverman, longtime friend and the executive director of Em’s Spotlight, asked MG to donate a painting for the organization’s benefit auction. The violet and pink originals were auctioned off, and MG made prints of all six paintings to sell as well. MGisms continues to support Em’s Spotlight financially and in other ways as possible.
Wings for William
MG’s initial foray into drawing and painting was recreating pictures of birds. Although dragonflies will always be her first love, she inherited a knowledge and fondness of birds from her dad—William Samuel Stratford. In the summer of 2020, MG’s dad was hospitalized with serious health issues, and she decided to make this collection available in his honor.
